It's happened to me, too, but it didn't matter. I had pocket aces and raised for what seemed like the first time in forever (I was new to the game then and did way too much limping and cold-calling), and the dealer said, "Man, that's the first time I've seen Mike raise before the flop all night."
I got seven callers. Nobody pays attention, at least at most of the places I've played. |

my first trip to a b&m i folded 67o utg would have flopped oesd and rivered nut straight. the dealer said "ohh you folded winner" ( i guess he peeked my cards somewhere there in). i asked him if he played alot of 67o utg. iwas kind of pissed but it was my first time i lost my 100 and left thouroughly dperessed that i didnt complete kill my first 2/4 table. dealer is "lucky" i didnt know enough to complain to the floor. none of this matters now as i ve logged a few more hours but if it happened again i would probably still be very pissed, except for the part where my gf hit a slot

[ QUOTE ] criticizing plays and providing reasons for my own play [/ QUOTE ] Why in the world would you do either of those things? [/ QUOTE ] You never should. I SAY that I don't and I try never to do it, but it happens once every five or six seconds where I start to do it (sometimes quickly say something like "why did you call that raise cold) and then quickly stop myself, refocus, get up and walk somewhere, and move on. It's easy to SAY you'll never do it and TRY never to do it, but I know it's impossible for me to always maintain the philosophy. It's a bad human characteristic to criticize -- especially at the poker player where people are handing you money by the very nature of them being even worse players than you are -- and should be avoided at all costs as it leads to Negative Play Experiences and the only way people will continue to come to casinos when they continually lose money is if they are having some semblance of "fun." "Low-limit" and "table-image" is an oxymoron. You can play as tight as you want, play the nuts as hard as you like because they WILL call you down. You can be a clown, you can be inivisible, but generally, image doesn't make a difference at these levels.

"Low-limit" and "table-image" is an oxymoron. You can play as tight as you want, play the nuts as hard as you like because they WILL call you down. You can be a clown, you can be inivisible, but generally, image doesn't make a difference at these levels. [/ QUOTE ] This is totally true. The other day, playing 1/2, one dealer in her 30 minute session dealt me KK twice, QQ, JJ, and TT and they all won and I got to show them all. Each time, I said to the table "See, I only play premium hands" in hoping this would lead to some playmaking later. Of course nobody bothered to listen and continued to call me down when I bet. To have a table image, players have to realize that someone has an image. Its like the saying "You can't put a guy on any hand when even HE doesn't know what he has." If they aren't poker savvy enough to play the player moreso than the cards, then your table image is meaningless. |
