Generally while i am in school, i find it easy to put in 2-3 hours/day almost every day than put in 4-5 hours in a day and take a day off.

I am interested to know how many hours a week on average people put in. I have probably taken 3 days off in the last 2 months but only play a few hours a day.

I've just recently started making sure I have one day a week with no poker, no 2+2, no books, etc. Gotta maintain perspective--helps me tilt less too by breaking things up.

I'm pretty much the same way. I rarely have a day so jam packed that I can't play poker for at least an hour. I also get bored enough watching TV or doing nothing that I want to play at least a little bit.

It would probably be wayyy better for my mental health to skip at least 1 day a week. I think the only time I actually skip days on purpose is when I'm on a nasty downswing and I get sick of losing.

every 10000 hands I take a day off, usually works out to be about 4-5 times a month depending on how much i played.

and if I go on tilt I take lots of time off

For me it is about 1 day every 14. But that's not really fair, because I will take "days off" in which I play live or just play MTTs. Also, I frequently devote time to bigger buy-in live MTTs. I just got back from 6 days in Aruba. Also, I am only playing 5-6 hours a day.

i am surprised by some of the responses. i find weekend days, weekend evenings, holidays, etc., have the most fish and the loosest games. several of the posters who make their living at poker, mentioned taking off some or most of the weekend. i would think they would do better taking off a few days mid week, with the occasional weekend for family, girlfriend, etc.

i think that's the whole point.. some people aren't trying to squeeze out every dollar. i could make way more money than i do make. i play about 20 hours a week TOPS (if i'm lucky) and i have no other income besides poker
