The blinds are $1-$2, and it costs to $2 to call PF if nobody raises. Raises are still $4, though, so the first raise makes it $6 to go. A cap pre-flop (bet and 4 raises, 'cause its vegas) means it'll cost you $18 to see the flop.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just wait until the half kill kicks in, the kill is $3 and you play 6-12 fro there on out.

The money is made postflop.

1: The better players get to see more flops for cheap. The more flops the better player gets to see the worse it is for the bad players. Especially when given the implied odds possible when they let you limp in behind them.

2: You can raise, essentially making them 'coldcall' when it comes back to them even though they just limped. Meaning, they limp for 2, you raise to 6, it's like them calling a double bet back to them.

1/2 blinds are moneymaking games. Then you put a kill on top of that...

When I played it, when the kill was on, everyone wanted to get in because the pot was 'bigger'.

Odd. That's like a 1-4-8-8 preflop with a 4-8 postflop.

[/ QUOTE ]

With a 1/2 kill too. Love that game.

Alright, sounds like several late night 4/8, 6/12 sessions are in order. I can hardly focus at work thinking about this trip!

Okay another important question: Jerry Rice Niners jersey or Hawaiian shirt? FYI -- I already wear geeky glasses and look like an accountant (both +EV).

Is there in fact $6/12 at Mandalay? I played in the (1-2-)4/8 but couldn't recall what else they spread. Someone please correct me here: http://poker.wikicities.com/wiki/Mandalay_Bay

EDIT: Ah, I forgot about the half kill (and oddly, a Ctrl-F find on 12 didn't find that post). So there's no explicitly $6/12 game right, just $4/8 half kill, right? How about $8/16? (Memories of Vegas are getting foggy... I do remember I played there the same night that MNF had that "Desperate Housewives" intro that got people in a tizzy, but I was too busy playing to care about the football much less the intro.)

I should warn you.....

I didn't fully read your post - the 1/2 NL is as fishy as it gets -

4/8 and 6/12 - maybe - although certainly the MGM has some crap too - but I didn't play the limit games at Mandalay bay - sorry

No problem. My buddies are new to poker and want to stick to a lower limit, which is fine with me.

However, I will definitely try the 1/2 NL which sounds like it plays better than the $0.50/$1 NL games on Pokerstars. I will definitely give it a try.
