I don't like the way you worded this. Simply saying he shot backwards or threw backwards would suffice.

Anyways, I can just imagine the place going nuts after something like that! Thats like TV material, haha.

It is a better approach for someone lacking the upper body strength to shoot the shot in a more conventional manner and the hand size/strength to throw it like a baseball. I've seen kids do it who couldn't get the ball within 10 ft any other way.

It probably helps that by facing away, he's not results oriented. He can concentrate on a series of motions, not the basket.
When putting in golf, I never look at the hole until my ball has dropped....keeps me more focused on the stroke as opposed to the result

I would probably have the best accuracy doing it soccer style, two arms above head. With some practice I bet I could hit a full courter....

edit: best for my own throws that is

94' long by 54'. Back when I played, I could throw a ball about 30-40 yards without flipping...been a while tho, but I kind of want to try...
