Just so I understand: You are asking us (who answered your post with a reply) who have collectively posted a total of 4694* posts to mostly, I assume, complete strangers - whether or not your wife is mental?

Yes, it makes every bit as much sense as cutting the dog's hair then buying a sweater so he doesn't get cold.
Maybe I should have added another option, "Steamboatin is just as mental as his MRS."

Then I'm gonna guess that:
A) she likes the way the dog looks with a haircut B) she likes the way the dog looks in the sweater and C) the trimmed dog needs a sweater to keep warm so it's a win-win from her perspective, and it's not a lot of money, so if it makes her happy it seems pretty straightforward to me.
