What is your position on running PT/PV while you are playing the actual hands? [/ QUOTE ] I don't have any problem with it. That, and I play different against TAGs than fish, so any numbers someone has on me aren't as useful. As long as software isn't actually recommending a course of action, then I'm fine with it. If the user has to decide what the numbers mean in the context of the hand, I think that's poker skill. Seeing someone with a .5 aggression check-raise on the turn tells me they have strength. However, it's up to me to decide if my outs are tainted or not, or how much strength that implies, or if it's worth 3-betting because I think I made a better hand (better flush for instance). Now, if the software actually ran simulations based on the numbers and showed my likelihood of winning at this point and the EV of call/raise/bet, that's taking the interpretation of the data away from me and automating, which falls into the AI category of software. |

I like pokertracker and it's been great for my game. If they decide they don't want me using it anymore than no biggie. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I do think that their initial vagueness about which program is okay and which one isn't was rather unfair...although predictable considering it's party. [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Opponents who are VP-60 will still be beatable regardless of whether I have that little number at my table specifically telling me that they are VP-60. [/ QUOTE ] Bob, I totally agree. I think posters on both sides of this issue are overreacting, and most overstate the edge that HUDs like PV give good players. But, as I've heard Jon Stewart say, you don't often see people storming the streets, shouting, "Be reasonable!" The ones with the strongest opinions tend to be most vocal. The biggest problem with all this is how Party has handled it. Party Poker Support: We found a program on your computer we don't like. Stop using it. 2+2er: OK, which program? Party Poker Support: We're not gonna tell. But you better stop!! If Party would just tell me which programs are OK and which aren't, I will happily comply. I just don't like that I don't know. |

I think Party poker's hopes were to get people with yet unknown bot/stat sharing programs to stop using them.

[/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] Sorry to bump this thread, but I just wanted to point out what a moronic post this is. You're really going to make judgments on someone based on their location? |
