The Knicks sold out 11 years in a row during Patrick Ewing's career so I'm not seeing the comparison.

He's saying Patrick Ewing said Atlanta is a great sports town.

Patrick Ewing was involved in the infamous "Gold Club" scandal. The Gold Club was an Atlanta strip club that catered to pro atheletes. Ewing testified that the strippers used to give him oral sex. The owner of the club paid the strippers to service celebs.

That is why I'm sure Ewing likes Atlanta.

The situation in cleveland is a bit different. I think they had the longest sold out streak in the history of the majors when they were good in the mid 90s. The problem now is alot of people were and maybe still are angry at management for being cheap and also not resigning popular players like thome (this turned out to be a pretty good move.)
the problem with the indians is its a deep team but not really star packed. although i think sizemore, peralta, hafner, and martinez showed they could become pretty big stars in the next few years.
So i think it unfair to say cleveland is a poor sports town.

The problem with both Cleveland and Atlanta is that their Baseball teams have recist and offensive names and mascots. Now that the country is more educated, the populations of both cities realize they don't want to spend money supporting racism and hatred towards Native Americans.

If you notice, many college teams have voluntarily changed their names so that they are not offensive. For example, North Texas changed its name from The Mean Green. To the Keen Green. Many other institutions are following suit.

How do you explain the Redskins?
most valuable nfl team also.

i was thinking it would be an honor to name the team after the indians. but i dont know. cleveland blacks or cleveland caucasians does not sound too good.

alot of tribes though like the seminoles, etc. dont mind there name being used.

You never hear what the average Indian has to say about it. All you hear is the official tribe statement. Guess what? The tribe leaders all got paid off and they don't distribute the money to the rest of the tribe. Just like with Indian gaming, all of it goes to the Chief, his family, a few cronies, and the MOB. Wake up.

There was a kid in my town who was Creek Indian which is part of the Seminole tribe. Guess what his favorite team was? That's right, the Miami Hurricanes, because they beat Florida State and its racist program every year. He liked Nebraska too, because he thought the wishbone was fun to watch.

10,000 unsold tickets yesterday. GMAB. The fans there are horrific.

That's just a dumb statement.

[/ QUOTE ]

How so. Seems pretty obvious to me.
