i don't like the river.

Agreed, but can you explain exactly what you think the best line is on the river, taking the rest of the hand as a given?

The nut flush needs to call that river.

ok i may be the only one here, but i love the play kane.

this is a simple case of you being on one level of thinking higher than they were.

you know that they will lay it down and you also know that they know that you know that the average party player will not lay it down. what they do not know is that you know that they will lay it down.

pure and simple. sure you should not have gotten greedy and milked the turn but given that you did if i were in BB's spot, i would be thinking "was he underbetting because i was drawing dead the whole time?" and might muck the hand for sure. depends on who the opponent was.

anyway, i love it. gutsy, and a good play (given that he knows the opponents)

you say the nut flush needs to call the river? i think that's how you lose the maximum playing against known good players on fishy sites. good players make this move most of the time hoping to get called. i've made it all the time... all in when i hit my boat and they hit their flush. pays off 80% of the time. so when you say the nut flush needs to call this river it's easy to say given that we know what hero had, but i think that's the only way it's easy to say that. i would have a hard time calling this all in.

I agree that it's not an automatic call for the nut flush (if the river had paired the board instead of the turn, it would be much easier), but I don't think the poster was acting on the higher level you had him at. He made a play and it worked, but many good players would sniff this one out.

I would be afraid my opponent might start thinking about why I didn't checkraise all in. How does a person call the turn with a flush draw, and then check behind after they make the flush?
