I just tell them that I DO know that much (as I host TONS of home games / tournaments and have studied the rules)

This was my favorite part.

I'm guessing that you weren't pointing this out in the most friendly, "oops you made a mistake" manner.

[/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I was. I pointed out what I thought was a violation of the rules, then the guy goes into his whole "saw it on TV" thing and starts being a complete jackass, which is when I likely turned into a complete jackass and which is why this whole thing has pissed me off as much as it has. As another poster said, it's best to just be very cool and relaxed while playing, and I normally am just that. I HATE these types of situations, but when he jumped on me when I questioned the dealers ruling, that's when I went off. And as pompous as you guys think I'm being - I was RIGHT (according to the house rules that the floorman re-checked). The more the guy kept being a jackass, the more I wanted to prove my point, which might make me look like a jackass. Fine.

How long have they been offereing NL at PM? I play there every couple weeks when I'm in town and haven't seen it yet.

[/ QUOTE ]

They just started it a couple of weeks ago. They have 1/2 with a $100 max and a 2/5 with a $200 max. Both pretty short-stack-ish structures IMO, but what can you do. The weird thing is, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will only let them start a new game on Saturday. So they can start new games at 12:01am Saturday, and they'll usually go all day Saturday and into early Sunday morning, but once it breaks up, they can't start a new game until the following Saturday. That's as weird as it gets to me.

i think i'd rather play with the accused string raiser than the whiney little prick you seem to be. - did you continue to regal the table with your knowledge or were you done by this point? if the guy didnt know what he was doing how's about being a good joe and educating him instead of berating him, the dealer and the floorman. i think the proper move woulda been for the floorman to kick your ass out of the casino as you appear to be a fun vortex

This shows this place has hired inexperienced floorstaff that are unfamiliar with how no limit is played.

I'm starting to think, Randy, that you need to let go of the past.

Yes, you're right, and everyone is wrong. Really, no fooling.

But at some point, "everyone's" version of the rules will become the accepted rules. If EVERYONE is making the same misinterpretation, that misinterpretation will become the standard, and the proper, "old" way of doing things will (or already did) fall by the wayside.

But it hasn't in the larger buy-in games. That is why there were many comments in this thread pointing out that is not a string raise. I would be very suprised if this rule ever takes hold in higher buy-in NL games. But for this very reason I think the rule for touranments is ok becasue the players playing that are used to that rule.
