Re: Move up to juicy game above your limits?
the important question is what are you doing playing 2/4 with a 10k roll?
but to answer your question, definitely, unless you'd be really bothered if you lost. |

Re: Move up to juicy game above your limits?
No, not at all. Stop playing 2/4--move up a level.
I lost $1000 at 15/30 on party last night, so be advised, losing that much is very possible and doesn't mean much. |

[ QUOTE ]
I've built up my BR mainly by casino bonus whoring. Yes, the money means pretty much nothing to me. It's completely profit and I'm a college student. My expenses, not counting tuition, are about $100-$200 a month. I haven't moved up in limits because I've been playing different types... 2/4 NL, shorthanded NL, some heads up, some SNGs, etc. [/ QUOTE ] 2/4 NL is a lot different that 2/4 Limit. I would say you should be able to take a shot at the 15/30 game, because with 2/4 limit, you should be seeing swings of $500 - $1,000 in a night already. |

When people start threads like these, usually they're just looking for others to reaffirm their beliefs.
Do what you want. |

Re: Move up to juicy game above your limits?
The game is so fuc[/i]king swingy, that you could play at the craziest table there and drop $1000 like that. Remember that when everyone is chasing all the time, you might hit bad beat after bad beat after bad beat. I think CDC said something like a proper bankroll for 15/30 is 400 or 450 BB. That's 12 grand!
This entirely has everything to do with bankroll and how much risk you are willing to take. I've taken a few shots at 15/30 and have lost a total of $1,500 so far. No big deal, that's only 50 BB. First off, it's a very aggressive game and it's hard to adjust. When to make the laydowns and when to call down. If you could drop $1,000 and not sweat it, go for it. If that would hurt, then I strongly recommend you don't try. |

Re: Move up to juicy game above your limits?
If you're playing 2/4 on a $10k bankroll, it's gotta be for a reason. The two most likely are that you either don't think you're good enough to move up yet or that swings or dropping larger dollar amounts in a shorter period of time seriously mess with you psychologically. If either of those are the case, don't take a shot at a juicy 15 game.

Re: Move up to juicy game above your limits?
Everybody has pointed out how likely you are to lose the $1000. What if you win $2k or $3k? Will you just add that to your BR and go back to the (now) tame and boring 2/4? Or will you start playing 15/30 in earnest until you find out why the recommended BR is 300 - 500 BB?

Re: Move up to juicy game above your limits?
Well, right now I've run it up to 3k and I'm just planning on playing this one table for a while. If my winning keeps up for a few weeks, then I'll go try some of party's 15/30 tables.
Oh, and I just realized, the hand I posted my A9 vs A3, the river was another A. That probably would make more sense. |
