About A Boy or Love Actually?

Love Actually pales in comparison to About a Boy (which was OK).

Love Actually had far too many uber cheesy moments. As well I felt About A Boy had a lot more substance to it.

It's really an apples and oranges situation. AAB was a 5 character indie film, and LA was a big production piece with lots of great actors. AAB was a single story line (and a good one) - LA is a mulitple story line ensemble piece.
Grant was completely believable as the spoiled self-absorbed rich guy in AAB; he was not a convincing Prime Minister in LA. I'll still go with LA as the "better" movie. Higher production values and many good performances.

Yeah, with all those obscure indie acters and actresses like Hugh Grant and Rachel Weisz.

Personally I think AAB is far, far better than LA. I honestly think AAB is one of the funniest movies of recent years, whilst LA was a disappointing piece of cheese.

I didn't want to do a straight bet on the poll results because I'm not all that sure how popular AAB is in the USA. After some haggling we set the line at 65%/35%, for $150.

It's interesting to me that Love Actually is winning the poll, yet the majority of comments are in favor of About A Boy. Perhaps it's a function of those favoring Love Actually being more confident in their choice, therefore they don't have as big a need to justify it to an internet group.

Either way, Love Actually wins.

The eye candy alone in Love Actually makes it worthwhile. A couple of LOL scenes as well, especially when the PM is going door to door- "Sorry for all the cockups!"

It was such a close decision for me that a day later I can't even remember what I voted for!

L.A. has the line, "Oooooowould we call her chubby?"

But A.A.B. has the line, "I'd be the worst possible Godfather. I'd probably drop her on her head at her christening. I'd forget all her birthdays until she was 18. Then I'd take her out and get her drunk. And, let's face it, quite possibly try and shag her.

I voted About a Boy since I actually recalled that movie. I get Love Actually confused with some other romantic comedy Grant made.
