Blinds 1200/2400, antes 300.
I am in BB in seat 5. Tim opens pot for 9K from seat 8 and it is folded to me. I re-raised to 40K with AKo. Tim and I played a lot of pots already and I really thought this raise would be enough to get him to lay down a hand like AQ or a small pair. He re-raised me most of my stack. I was pretty sure I was ahead and I pushed the rest of my money (not much after the raise) in and he called. |

Almost as amazing is the comeback Ivey's made. Or maybe not that amazing since he's THAT good that it was almost expected.

[ QUOTE ]
What's your problem with the play? That somebody called $35,000 pre-flop? Or that somebody pushed in with AQ on a 9,6,3 flop? [/ QUOTE ] My first reaction is that calling a raise and reraise with 3-3 is a little crazy, but like you, I suspect that's not where he was going with the post. Sure, once you hit a set, your opponent sure is dumb for going all-in, haw haw! But if he doesn't flop a set, I wonder if he's willing to call an all-in with that unimproved pair of 3s. And wait, if he's not, that would make the push with AQ a lot better, wouldn't it... Funny game, this poker. |

[ QUOTE ]
4 players limp in, including Dutch Boyd and Bob Hotchendani, and the flop comes J-5-3. Boyd bets out and gets two callers, including Hotchendani. The turn is a 6. Boyd bets $30,000. Hotchendani is the only caller. The river is also a 6, and Boyd bets out another $50,000. Hotchendani calls, and shows 6-4. Boyd mucks his hand [/ QUOTE ] I played with Bob Hotchendani on Day 1c. He was on the biggest heater I have ever seen. Arnold Spee and the rest of the table was just laughing and shaking our heads. His M.O. is call a raise before the flop, hit the nuts, call down. I saw him not raise with nearly unbeatable hands several times. I'm not at all surprised he didn't raise on the river with trip 6's. |
