I agree that a huge pile on would have been out of place. If they want to go nuts in the clubhouse and swim in champagne that's more than fine, its been a hell of a season and they just won the division. But onfield at Fenway isn't really called for, it's still only a division win for a team which has won it the last 7 years before.

Agreed, but this was a huge victory with everything this team has overcome in the past year: the horrible start, the injuries, which lead to bringing up the unexperienced and the forgotten, even the sweep from last year. Given all of that, nothing seems more approprate than a 40 person pile in the middle of the fenway infield.

It may not have sunk in yet until they had gotten into the club house for the White Sox had only won a 1/2 inning earlier?

A friend with an extra ticket invited me to the Patriots game today and I'm going but deep down I'd rather stay home and watch the baseball game.

Dynasty is correct. There was a mild celebration and of course the players realized it was only because Cleveland had lost that they avoided another pressure-packed game on Sunday.

Most interesting moment of the game, for me, was when RJ had the bases loaded in the 2nd and Stottlemyre and all the infielders came to be "shrinks" to Johnson. First time I heard announcers not just allude to, but directly mention what a head case Johnson is.

I'm really impressed by how well this team has played down the stretch. There have been a ton of contributors, (a ton!) and RJ has been a real ace. I'm not saying this is a great team compared to previous Yankee teams, but they've had a damn good record (the best in MLB from some point 2-3 months ago) and this season has turned out as well as any supporter could dream after the first 40 games.

If Cleveland loses before the end of Sox/Yanks and the Red Sox lose, do they celebrate?
