Does FOX not have the strike zone thing that ESPN uses repeatedly? Would like to see those pitches again that have Randy Johnson crying like a little girl.

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess not. A few of them were awfully close. Didn't matter anyway

What if the Yankees tie the Red Sox in the AL East?
Next Monday, the Yankees would host the Red Sox, unless those two teams would both make the playoffs anyway . In that case, there wouldn't be a playoff game. Both teams would make the playoffs and the first-place team is determined by the two teams' head-to-head record. As of Tuesday, the Yankees led the season series, 9-7. So if the Red Sox win 2 out of three, the Yankees will lead the series 10-9.

If cleveland wins 1 game or fewer, and the Red Sox take 2 out of three, then there is no playoff, the Yankees win the AL East, and the Red Sox win the Wild Card .

does anybody else think its stupid that if theres a 3way tie, the yanks and sox then have to play a game to determine the division winner? why cant they just determine the division the same way they would if there was not a 3way tie?

no. First of all, if a playoff berth were at stake they'd play an extra game even if it was only a 2 way tie. Second, it's not fair to double a team's chances of missing the playoffs because of H2H record, in my opinion.

is it fair to cleveland that the yanks and sox would get 2 cracks at the playoffs? is it fair to the yanks/sox that they have to play a team with an extra games rest just because they (sox/yanks) were contending for a division title while the indiands were just wild card? i guess it cant be made fair. i guess these thing happen infrequently enough that it doesnt need fixing

You should use MLB Gameday. It doesn't update that quick, but I think it is quicker than Yahoo.

Yes. Cleveland didn't win their division.

Yes. They should've won an extra game if they didn't want this to happen.

I think it's plenty fair, and there really isn't a better option for determining 2 playoff spots between 3 teams.
