I told you that you guys would whine about the officiating. [/ QUOTE ] Overall it was subpar (I'm not an Illinois fan). |

Hmmm, I suppose the UNC underclassmen look talentless??? And of course an already attractive program winning a NC in a compelling games is horrible for recruiting. I dont think talent is gonna be a problem @ UNC in the long run. [/ QUOTE ] Out of May, McCants, Felton, and Marvin Williams, how many do you think are gonna be back next year? Add to that the loss of Jawad Williams and Manuel. |

Clark - man, your team deserved better. Seriously. That Illini team has heart and that goes a long ways in my book. [/ QUOTE ] I was really really pulling for Illinois in this game, but they deserved to lose. They played a very foolish game in the first half, and that goes back to poor pre-game planning by the coaching staff. |

dont lump both me and everyone else into "you guys". i believe that may should have had more calls against him... that charge in the first half resulted in a bucket... and lead to a big unc run. he played a great game... i wont take that away from him but he did get the benefit of the doubt on one or seven occasions.

I meant my comments more from the whole season perspective. In my mind, a team that goes 37-1 (and was 7 seconds from 38-0) and leads the polls from beginning to end deserved to win it all. I felt the same way about UNLV when Duke pulled off the impossible. You are more or less right, though: Illinois clearly didn't play it's best game; if they had, they'd have beaten UNC. EDIT: Illinois' record corrected. |

Re: Most anticipated final in years? Illinois-UNC official NCAA Threa
Going into this game, I thought that, in a ten game series, NC would probably win 6 of 10. Coming out of this game, I think that Illinois was marginally the better team, and would split or win 6 of 10. 1989 all over again.
Still, the greatest season in Illini history, and I have the utmost gratitude for everyone who made this season possible. EDIT: I'm not sure what to think of the officiating. They called some (bad) ticky tack fouls both ways, and missed some clear ones both ways (Roger was hammered down low a couple times in the first half - I'm sure Incy fans could point out missed calls on the other side), but they did let May basically push Powell anywhere he wanted to. I guess they do that both in the NCAA and the NBA (read: Shaq), but I still don't like it. EDIT2: My roommate and his girlfriend are having sex right now. She is very loud. |

I just got back to Vegas and seeing the result online (couldn't watch on the plane- it didn't have CBS).
I feel bad for you. You're taking some tough losses in sports' biggest championships. I was rooting for Illinois. |
