No NBA playoffs last year, No MLB playoffs (both missed by the skin of our teeth.) It is really getting to be difficult for me.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're worse than the Yankee fan who said Posada cost them the season.

You win 2 in a row, at home against a team with little motivation to win - and the worst that happens is a 1 game playoff for the WC.

Plus, the Indians look like a team that's going to destroy the AL Central a year from now.

Yeah, but the Indians kind of have a lineup. And it's not like their pitching sucks as much as the CWS lineup sucks.

Ok, so they won't destroy the AL Central next year, but they're a team that's capable of making quite a few playoff runs before they have to rebuild.

Let's just look at the Yankees:

-Giambi should have scored twice and he made a bad play on the key play of the game

-Posada had a difficult catch on Giambi's throw, which looked like it might have glanced off the bat. But he could have done some damage in the 1st inning, and then again in the 6th. The announcer said he made good contact in the 6th, but he needed to hit the ball to the outfield, not a ground ball.

-Torre made the worst decision of all, walking Ortiz with one out and a man on second in the 6th inning of a 2-1 ballgame. To face Manny Ramirez. With a rookie pitcher who had bad control.

Yankees played and managed a lousy game tonight. Red Sox deserved to win.

[/ QUOTE ]

yup. torre managed "worse" than guillen. one was tryin, the other wasnt. cant figure out who was who tho.

What if the Yankees tie the Red Sox in the AL East?
Next Monday, the Yankees would host the Red Sox, unless those two teams would both make the playoffs anyway . In that case, there wouldn't be a playoff game. Both teams would make the playoffs and the first-place team is determined by the two teams' head-to-head record. As of Tuesday, the Yankees led the season series, 9-7. So if the Red Sox win 2 out of three, the Yankees will lead the series 10-9.

If cleveland wins 1 game or fewer, and the Red Sox take 2 out of three, then there is no playoff, the Yankees win the AL East, and the Red Sox win the Wild Card .

last Johnson vs. Wakefield matchup was a 1-0 pitcher's duel with Johnson winning but Wakefield striking out a career high 12 batters. Looks like they are trying for a 25-22 game today.

Does FOX not have the strike zone thing that ESPN uses repeatedly? Would like to see those pitches again that have Randy Johnson crying like a little girl.
