Rosalita, Tenderness, and Can't You Hear Me Knocking are fine choices. Can't You Hear Me knocking is just about the only Stones song that doesn't sound hopelessly trite to me after years of listening to them.

And including the Supremes makes me think I should have included Be My Baby by the Ronettes.

bob dylan - knockin' on heaven's door

[/ QUOTE ] Was there a reason you chose this version? It was first but definitely not the best. This is like taking the Dylan version of All Along the Watchtower.

[/ QUOTE ]

I much prefer Dylan's version of both songs.

Default A Few Changes

I barely factored in the length of songs, and I'm now realizing the importance of this with only a 25 track playlist for life.

My first 2 changes based on this new insight would be
-White Discussion, + Pillar of Davidson
-Yellow Ledbetter, +Daughter (Live version w/ Another Brick in the Wall tease)

Also, I probably should have put "Accident Prone" or "Jinx Removing" by Jawbreaker on my list.

Cool or Not Cool? (remember I'm 50 yrs old )

Well, cool is a stretch, but I did know them all - and love the mike l. song. For starters, I'll say this. Big Country, BoDeans, Connells - I like all three of those songs, but you can definitely find better.

[/ QUOTE ]

Years ago I had a chance to see Big Country in Providence with my brother but was just too tired to go - instantly regretted it given my brother said they were terrific. Later we saw a film/video of a concert made a few weeks later and were blown away. Great band that never made it big as they should have in our opinion (especially compared to U2). Anyways, the whole first album is very good, although the sound quality isn't quite as good as it could have been. Almost any song on that album could make my list.

My brothers old band-mate made it semi-big in the music business and I think produced some of the Connells albums. Got to see The Connells in a now defunct club in Long Beach about twelve years ago. Very good band and it was hard to pick a best song.

Bodeans are very consistent so maybe my choice isn't best. Got to see them twice at HOB in Hollywood. What song is better in your opinion?

[ QUOTE ]
Cranberries? Come on.

[/ QUOTE ]

Because they suck or they aren't cool?

[ QUOTE ]
Dramarama. Great choice. That is a possible addition/replacement to my list.

[/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't coming up with a great choice make me cool?

~ Rick

PS BTW, if you don't mind my asking how old is El Diablo *? Sometimes when I participate on this forum I feel like a child molester.

* Don't say, El Diablo is "three years old", or how ever long ago your username switched from that other one . That would be too easy.

the connells are from my hometown, I used to live near boylan heights actually. my favorites are "hey wow" and "something to say" off fun and games.

edit: forgot "stone cold yesterday" as well. what a great record.
