Royal Tennenbaums is not even close to obscure. Sorry.

Anything with Gene Hackman and Gwyneth Paltrow can't qualify.

I thought this movie was okay....but not blown-away by it.
My ex freaking loved it though.

Watched Fandango again tonight.
The last 10-15 minutes or so got me yet again. I'm such a sap.

Has anyone rented the new version of Fail Safe based on my recommendation? Man that movie creeps me out.

Not yet. I saw the old one, though. I'll go see what the new one looks like.

The Royal Tennenbaums seems to be much loved around here. It's on my Netflix queue. I just increased my membership so I can have 8 out at a time.

I only saw bits and pieces of the old one so I should check that one out.

I freaking hate Richard Dreyfus in EVERYTHING he does but he is really terrific as the President in Fail safe.
George Clooney is good too.

And I thought Noah Wylie really nailed the "oh my god" factor as the translator when Dreyfus presents his chilling plan. His reaction is the part that really got me.

Blarg - I suspect you would probably enjoy the Big Bang

I'm definitely not a Dreyfuss fan, although I thought he was good enough way back when, in American Graffiti, and I was surprised I was even able to stand him in The Goodbye Girl. Now he kind of gives me the creeps, though.

I searched for the Fail Safe you're talking about on Netflix, and only turned up the old one.

I'll see what that Big Bang thing is about. I've seriously got over 400 in my queue, though, so it's going to be ages till I can see most things.

I did remember to put in my queue a fun horror film that's not super obscure to film nuts, but is probably not known to all that many OOT'ers -- Warlock. It had some pretty crappy sequels, but I remember being very pleasantly surprised by the first one when I first saw it. The main actor is quite good, and there's a genuine vicious creepiness about him even though he has a certain jolliness about his evil that makes you actually kind of like the guy. There's at least one scene there that I've always remembered, when the warlock seeks out the fat of an unbaptised child to make his flying potion, that's really creepy and funny at the same time.

I like all the Jim Jarmusch stuff but I like "Stranger than Paradise" best. There is one scene where they stay at the Hungarian aunt's house and she plays cards with them. Auntie is winning every hand and you always hear "I am ze winnar!" from her. Cracks me up everytime.

Blow Up is a great film which I saw the first time when I was 12 or so. I had trouble following the plot but there were many nekkid scenes so I liked it. Saw that one 20 years later and yeah, it's great!

Kentucky Fried Movie is the film I laughed most about in my life. It is quite known over here and they are still showing it in program cinemas. Unfortunatly, there seems to be only one copy for all those cinemas and the film is getting shorter every year.

Fandango - 1984 film starring a young Kevin Costner (who I otherwise dislike) and Judd Nelson that I am partial to.

Great choice.

i knew there must be another Fandango fan out there somewhere.

The last 10 minutes just get me every single time.

Haven't watched it in awhile....might pop it in the VCR tonight (you guys remember VCR's, right??)
