Mike Lupicas column

[ QUOTE ]
The calamity would be Redding and then Darrell May, another guy the Yankees got from the Padres for Quantrill, who followed Redding. It was 8-0 and 9-0 and 9-1 and 12-1. When Jason Anderson came into the game, the scoreboard said it was Steve Karsay, who used to be No. 31 for the Downstairs Yankees. And he was announced as Karsay in the press box.

At which point somebody yelled out, "The Yankees wish."

LMAO

EDIT: Leiter gets start Sunday. Costs then $400k to the marlins and the rest of his 8m contract (I would guess 3.2 million?)

[/ QUOTE ]

More money well-spent.

RJ and Brown were George's moves. Cashman fought for a young outfielder--Vlads last year, Beltran this year. Not Beltran if we had landed Vlads obviously....

In any case, as bad as Kevin Brown is, and I think he's much, much worse than bad, compared to Weaver he's Cy Young.

(Off to the game now....RJ's due for 8 IPs, 3 H's, 1 R, 10k's.)

Brown since 03

HR/9 .6 K/9 5.9 BB/9 2.1 IP's 408

Weaver since 03

HR/9 .9 K/9 5 BB/9 2.4 IP's 498

of course Brown has had to pitch more in the AL over that span, but I dont see much of a difference when you factor in Brown having to be replaced by a lesser player for 90 innings.

Weaver was not going to be successful in New York. Some guys have ERAs way worse in New York than they do anywhere else (Kenny Rogers, T. Mulholland, Weaver, Vazquez, etc. etc.).
