I always thought the 'golden rule' was don't CALL an all-in with JUST a draw.

There are many, MANY situations where you should CALL an all in with JUST a draw.

The pot is $1,000,000. You have $10 and the nut flush draw on the flop, and your opponent bets $10.

ahhh touche', geez... I must not forget to tack on this disclaimer when I post here, guys love to jump down your throat in a heartbeat!!

The opinions and statements above are not necessarily the views and opinions of Kevroc or partners thereof, past performances are not indicitive of future results, poker is risky and people can and do lose money.

Geesh, I was only commenting about the 'golden rule' phrase, can a brotha catch a break!

Ha, what's worse is when you bet, they call, you muck because all you have is your board, and it turns out they had less. I saw this happen once.

But in poker, as in life...

There is one golden rule that applies to everything, including poker.

"He who has the gold, makes the rules."

Here it is, and you're very welcome.

PROTECT YOUR CARDS.

Ever have the dealer muck your winning hand? Even just barely start to touch the pot with it? Game over, you just lost. And in most card rooms, you're not getting your money back either, no matter how big a stink you make about it.

It's happened to me more than once and I've seen it happen to many others. I've even see dealers start to scoop up live cards and throw them in, get shouted at to stop, and be so flustered or afraid of being caught by their supervisors that they've PURPOSELY mucked the cards just to remove all doubt about how the hand will turn out. Again, more than once. And heck, even the best dealer can get careless or make a simple mistake.

Anyway, hang onto your cards with an absolute death grip if you have to, but never assume your cards are safe at the table unless they're in your own hands.

Well, I suppose you could make an exception for online play, since you aren't holding the cards in the first place.

See if you can locate the old thread initiated by Sklansky, in response to my anti-limping strategy called "Not Limping is for Mediocrities" or something pretty similar to that.
