Check the river - induce a bluff from missed draws and avoid a raise from a better hand.

[/ QUOTE ]

This seems so obvious, I can't believe we're talking about it.

Is it possible that I am missing something here? For instance, I just patched what should have been a fairly obvious EV leak in my blind play. I cannot for the life of me see why I had not recognized it sooner, but there it was when I discovered it.

Is this similar?

You should probably check an odds book before you talk about folding this hand. Especially when your rationale starts with:

There are too many people in the pot for K7 to be any good

[/ QUOTE ]

Remember it is suited and yes, that makes a big difference.

I hate the pre-flop call with a passion.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is truly mind boggling.

I check raised the flop because I believed I had the best hand and tried to get max value.

Please quote some text that shows you should play K7s for 1.5 SB in the worst possible position. What % of the time do you think hitting a top pair K on the flop with a 7 kicker in at least five way action (you dont even say how many "new players" were in to see the flop) is going to hold up?

Exactly what flop do you want with K7s? If the one you got makes you happy, you need to reread HEP.

Do you typically try to "trap" multiple players for multiple bets with a draw friendly board when you're holding only top pair with no kicker, and not even a backdoor chance?

What about 2 pair? What about the flush? What about trip 7's? Think those might stand up? What about trip kings? What about straights? WHAT ABOUT QUADS? So I might be exaggerating.

You seem to be consumed with top pair shitty kicker. Apparently, you don't play top pair shitty kicker very well or else you wouldn't be so fixated on the 7.

Oh, and btw, I did say there were 2 new players that posted. And it was only 3 ways when the action came back to me postflop.

Granted, this might be 0 EV or slightly +EV, but I'm sure it isn't negative EV.

I didn't think the preflop call was this much of an issue but apparently it is.

what straight do you plan to make with K7?

this is "any two(suited) will do" logic. goodluck with that!

i guess playing it well is calling a 1.5SB raise in terrible EP, calling a three bet on the flop, calling a turn bet and then betting out the river unimproved?

if you want to think that is +EV or 0EV, go with it, and please tell me where and when you play. ill be the guy to your left with all your chips.

What makes you so sure? PokerRoom.com stats say that K7s is a loser from the SB. I believe it. I might be tempted to call if the SB were 2/3 of a small bet (and even then I'm not so sure about it), but definitely not if it's only 1/2. If you regularly call raises with these kind of hands in the SB, I think you're leaking chips.

I'm not saying betting or checking this river is correct in this spot as I don't know the players involved, but I can certainly say there are many games in which I'd value bet this river and routinely get called by one or two worse hands who would not likely have bet behind me had I checked.
