But deep down inside, some little part of me wanted or needed to see it.

IMO, if you needed to see it, your read wasn't good enough to fold.

Remember that feeling when you make a crying call and you know you're beat with something strong but don't.... That part wants to see the hand still and it's good to shut him up!

no you misunderstood what i said. post i replied to was talking about J8 only in terms of preflop. preflop i think the guy can have any Jx if he's "BAD" as hero said in his initial post. BAD players dont care about position nor do they care really what two cards they have, especially if theyre suited.

you took it to mean i thought the guy could have anything other than J9 on the river and given hero's description no i do not.

I messed that post up. I got what you meant. I was agreeing with that and then just continued on and didn't separate it and expressed it like [censored]! I should have reread it. My bad.

this is a very simple read against a bad player. He must have you beat on the end since he would not raise you with QJ or worse, and if he would raise you with worse, he would have done it on the turn. You don't need any facial expressions, voodoo, wrongly folded blinds, or anything else.

You missed his point.

Since you know he has a J. You know he is a bad player. You know he will bet the river when you check to him b/c he has trips. So why not check to him if you are planning to fold to a raise. You still make the same or lose the same regardless.

Sixty bucks buys several fruit plates, even at the Bellagio.

It sounds like you have the mindset that's going to get you killed in this game. And showing this fold isn't going to help.

You're going to have a lot of interesting river decisions if you ever play with the same players in the future.
