yeah David...you should check it out. i think it's a pretty interesting new format.
at least i think it's new...i had never heard of them before, but i'm new to the poker world so the fact that i haven't heard of them doesn't mean a whole lot. . |

A5 he goes all in vs KQ. Flop is A high and looks like he'll double up. Turn K, river K. Ugh.

ty to all for your support. It was a battle from the early hand where ssssinc won with A9 in his hand, A on flop, 9 on river. I had him outkicked, and was letting him hand himself, but he slipped the noose.
Maybe next time. Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) |

i read an earlier post of his say where the 2.7 bb raise is just as effective as a 3x raise, so less risk in stealing

That's basically it.
Early on, when the blinds are small, you expect to get called most of the time anyway, so it's really no big deal whether you raise to 2.8x, 3x, 3.5x, etc. Since somebody can still call for a small fraction of their stack, they will do so more often. Later, when the blinds represent a much larger portion of your stack, I've found that a raise to T270 works practically just as often as T300. If anything, it might work better online, because your raise "looks" bigger, the image being a larger stack of chips. Thus, when I steal, I win the same 1.5xBB. When I lose, I save 0.2-0.3xBB. Even over the course of one sng, this might add up to 1-2 blinds. Later, Greg Raymer (FossilMan) |
