I can't get it as my landlady will object.

This thing looks impressively cheap and I may give it a shot in the next few weeks.

What is the catch?

Your speed will still be 56k. This will do nothing for playing poker. As it compresses graphics, it would speed up web browsing.

You could save yourself what ever the fee is by turning off graphics in internet explorer.

This service workd by compresing graphic files and putting web pages you visit on a regular basis onto a cache server so web pages you visit often will have to be refreshed manualy by you.

In no way does this service increase the data capacity of dial up so in no way will it improve your poker playing experience on dial up.

It's mostly useless. It will speed up the loading of certain pages somewhat but your speed is still 56K so all the downloads would take the same time, your ping would be the same etc. All the high speed dialup stuff works on caching pages on your ISP and archiving/dearchiving data as it's being passed through TCP/IP. My personal opinion - not worth the effort.
