Re: Interesting CNN article (Poker)
"Interesting article. Prepare the pond!!!!"
I got news for you. Me and my poker buddies (all still in college) are well read (TOP, HPFAP, Super systems, TPFAP, etc...), have many hours under our belts, and our definately not fishies anymore. Watch out for the college kids at the table. Since we are all fairly well educated and bright, we pick up the game real quickly. I'm not saying I'm an expert, but I would definately say that all my poker buddies and I are not fish anymore. The fishies are the middle aged men going to the casino to "gamble," and the old regulars who still play the same tight passive game they did 40 years ago. Thanks for showing me the article though. It was interesting to read. |

Re: Interesting CNN article (Poker)
You and your buddies need to branch out and find all the other college kids who are as fishy as they come. I play in a few games at school and there are 3 or 4 individuals who are quite good, but the rest are as fishy as they come. College kids may not be any worse than the rest of the fish out there, but they certainly aren't significantly better either.

Re: Interesting CNN article (Poker)
"It is crazy on campus," said Rachel Dorfman
A friend of mine pointed out that Dorfman was Flounder's real name in Animal House. Maybe Rachel is related and just taking up the crazy campus activity of her day. toga! toga! |

Re: Interesting CNN article (Poker)
it is a interesting argument but i do think that the new player has more available tools on learning the game faster. Note, i didnt say better. I probably give the edge to the college kids of today than the kids of even 10years ago when i was in college.
My only concern when reading the article from CNN is compulsive gambling has been on the rise for the last 20 years and they say it is equal to the increase of accesibilty to gambling. What site that is not governed by any law would put up a gambling problem banner. |
