Why are the rooms in vegas intent on taking good games and making them crappy with crappy blind structures?

Why are the rooms in vegas intent on taking good games and making them crappy with crappy blind structures? [/ QUOTE ] Because they think they know better. I explained to him the reason the Bellagio 15 game is so popular is because of the blind structure, but he wasn't hearing it. |

Re: 3/6 blind in the 9/18?
Mayhaps they don't want the game to be too popular.
Poker roooms in Vegas casinos seem to operate under strange forces. |

[ QUOTE ] is it really a 3 and 6 blind??? [/ QUOTE ] It is so. Ed and I had a discussion with the room manager, and while he said he would experiment (basically to get us to go away), it was pretty clear he was going to stick with the $3 and $6 structure. [/ QUOTE ] May I ask how that blind structure works? Does that mean pre-flop you can limp in for $6? Would you raise by putting $15 in front of you or $12? Can you straddle by posting $12? Thanks, SG |

Hi,
You limp for $6. A raise makes it $15 to go. |

Re: 9-18 at the Palms?
Hi GK,
The blinds in the no-limit are $1 & 2. $100 min buy-in. $300 max buy-in. It's going every time I have been in there since the expansion. I was in there early this morning and they had two no-limits and two 9-18's going strong (as well as many other games). The lists for all the hold'em games were so long, I went to the Monte Carlo where I got right in. Plenty of games going there as well (4-8 & 2-4). Best of Luck Howard |

Re: 3/6 blind in the 9/18?
I played the small blind structure at Sam's Town and at Mandalay Bay and I agree that it sucks. First of all, there is a learning curve for any players coming into the game who have never seen the blind structure. Lectures of how much to call, raise and straddle slows down the game. Also the pots are much smaller than other games of the same limit but smaller blinds. Fish will be fish and limp whether the blinds are regular, or half price; so it is better for good player to charge them the most for their loose play.
Can someone explain why they "think" it is a better structure? BTW The $1-4-8 spread limit in Biloxi is a great game. I wonder why that is a good game and the smaller structures are not? |

Re: 3/6 blind in the 9/18?
They like it there, but not in the bigger games. Read Clark's post about playing good at Mandalay. The 6-12 with 1-3 blinds is a bad game. Its always a bad game because there is no reason to play a hand. This will be the same in this 9-18. The 4-8s are low level and usually loose due to stakes and they are fun in this game. You can limp with all sorts of crap. But when the play gets better, the game will just be bad. Like the UB miniblinds game. 80% of the time, its a bad bad game, but when you get a few loose players in there promoting loose play, it becomes a very fun game.
Edit: Especially at mandalay since the better players move up to the 6-12 while the loose people who are there to play and have fun stay at 4-8. |
