You caught me....

I'm avoiding the Taj for the time being after self-righteously telling the shift-manager I was taking my rake to the Borgata for a while. I was incredibly dissapointed with the way I was treated by one of their floor managers the last time I was there. The games were great, but the dealers, floor staff, and ambiance were terrible. For right now, at the limits I play, there's no reason to put up with that sort of stuff--the Borgata does a much better job. I guess if I played high-limit stud or 20/40 and above Hold 'Em I might feel differently, but I can boycott the Taj guilt-free.

Well, maybe a little guilt on an ATLARGE weekend...

Your tipping system has its merits and as long as you stay consistent they should have no problem with it.

I still tip a dollar a pot for 10-20 and 20-40 but I don't tip for blind steals, and the dealers know this, but if the dealer is good I tip a dollar at the push as well.

Now the hottie cocktail waitresses get 2 bucks a pop just for cramming ito those dresses.

Tipping isn't mandatory, you don't have to play the "good guy" role. Let the dealers know that you're a real dick, and a cheapskate as well, and don't tip at all.

Playing over the weekend, whenever a new dealer would sit down, a rather loud LAG would tip the dealer for "luck" before any cards were dealt. One dealer came back who I rather liked (for competence) from before, so I figured "what the heck?" and tipped him as well.

I ended up getting dealt a couple of monsters in the next few minutes. Heck, I can be superstitious.

When the next dealer came, a couple other people at the table said "Hey, I gotta try that, if it works for you!"

The dealers didn't seem to mind, either.

Don't know if I'd do that as a matter of course, but it was a fun afternoon.
