If Deaf Ed understands that you're a winning player, then I don't see how Bonk staking you is bad for him. Maybe you can take the diplomatic route & explain to him how this benefits all three of you (or just you & Deaf, if you think having Bonk get screwed settles better w/ Deaf).
You will usually win money for Bonk. Bonk will use that money to play Deaf HU (and I'd suggest you should stay out of HU play w/ Bonk at first to build trust w/ Bonk & to keep Deaf off your back). This way everyone wins. You make money at no risk. Bonk makes money, which he will lose to Deaf, who makes money and doesn't have to wait as long anymore for those HU matches.
