Exactly. This is why I think I made a mistake on the river. What hands could he possibly have had? Could he be laying down a middle set there (pocket 4's)? Could he have been fed of and frustrated and just trying to speculate with some drawing hand like 53? Could he have had an overpair like 9's or J's?

I think the overpair is the most likely scenario, but then why call the turn bet if he's not going to call the river.

One thing I will say is that he lost his key to his lockbox so he only had 1300 in cash to start with, and that's what he sat down with. Maybe he really was playing with scared money because if he got busted, then he couldn't rebuy for a while until they drilled his lock box.

I know I made a mistake in the hand, but I was wondering what sorts of hands you would put him on (A8 is not even in the picture IMO).
