Imma gonna call and if I hit my wheel I'm sure to bust the guy with AK... EASY CALL!!!!!" god bless thier pointy little heads. |

Depending on where the money went in, the fact that you payed them off may have made it correct for them to play 53o UTG.
Well, that may be a stretch with 53o, but remember that if you're paying people off on big hands, they may have some nice implied odds to limp in with. |

As incredible as this may be to believe...some people actually don't know how to play poker.
I started playing on Stars in Feb, 2003 and had no idea whether a flush beat a full-house or not. and this whole thing that kept popping up in their avatar-windows that said 'Posts SB' and 'Posts BB' was a mystery to me. what the hell is 'posts'? What the hell is 'BB'? (of course...this was before the WPT-era. Now that stuff is explained on TV a lot more). When I folded my hand it would say 'Mucks' and I had know freaking clue what that meant. I also didn't understand the distinction between 'NL', 'PL' and 'limit' that it said in the lobby (they didn't have the seperate tabs that they do now). The first 2 or 3 SNG's I ever played (not knowing what they were) I believe I busted out on the first or 2nd hand because I just didn't know what the rules were or how it worked. Eventually I slowed-down a little bit and played tighter. A couple weeks later some table-coach berated me for calling an all-in with A8o or something. He called it a 'crap hand' and said 'what do I have that you beat?' (I caught trips on the flop so he was steamed obviously). Up until he pointed it out to me...I wasn't even that aware that there was such a thing as a 'crap' hand. In the cash-games I bet I played 90% of my hands pre-flop because I didn't pay attention to the other players and didn't realize that you weren't supposed to. I would get upset at other players who caught their draws on the river (when I had a pair of 2's or something) and they check-raised me. I would say something like "LOL!! Nice Card" or something like that. These are some of the things that go through the mind of a 90% see-flop type fish. you don't have to be a total idiot or be completely drunk. It's possible that you might just know absolutely nothing about the game. to that end...it's not that much of a stretch to see Gus Hansen play 53o or any other two cards on TV and think you can do the same thing (obviously not realizing there are fewer players, and that most people don't play as aggro as Gus). the first times I played in tournaments there I |

Type 'nh', laugh to yourself, and be grateful that there are so many bad players willing to put their money in on long shot draws AND that they're sitting at the same table as you. mj |
