I'm pretty sure Ferguson has tailored his image for TV. The cowboy hat is a definite addition to make him a name. Leibert has also undergone a major makeover from what she first appeared like. Did he have it when he won the WSOP? I saw an interview with him recently and the look is definitely a manufactured thing, it's not something he'd wear normally. Might have been before the TV era, but at least he among the group was very image aware and created a "brand" by creating an image.

i suppose, some of the old school guys like hellmuth, matusow started playing poker so they did not have to worry about how they looked, dressed, etc.
i dont know i just think dressing up to impress people is stupid.
