Re: Ann Coulter, Joseph McCarthy and Hollywood
"He could eyeball a flatworm on the ground and still be looking up, he was that low."
Wow, with this much passion against a guy who made some left wingers lose their jobs, I would love to hear what you have to say about communist mass murderers. |

Re: Ann Coulter, Joseph McCarthy and Hollywood
you don't get it, do you.
Do you know how countries like Russia and China come to be? - Guys like Eugene McCarthy take power and sway the masses with half truths and deceit. So you're right - let's just roll over as McCarthy turns us into our own version of 1984 - why not...he wasn't a BAD guy...LOL - but personally, I believe he was just as bad as the leaders and politicians of the countries you mentioned. He merely was hamstrung by that pesky Constitution. fortunately, his downfall had an element of Shakespearian Tragedy to it - nice to see a guy go down cause he shot himself in the foot. Bye bye Eugene - hope the history books are as truthful as Peter is deluded. RB |

Re: Ann Coulter, Joseph McCarthy and Hollywood
Whether you wish to call him Joe, Eugene or Paul McCartney, did he ever do anything illegal in his aggressive methods? Were people tortured, murdered, or did they just "disappear" as a result? Is there proof to show that any of his accusations were correct?
And finally, how does his anti-Communist propaganda differ from the rantings of left wingers both in his time and today? |

No, nothing illegal, just nice freedom loving attitude. As we know!? |

Re: Ann Coulter, Joseph McCarthy and Hollywood
[ QUOTE ]
His "method" was Senate hearings. Not what I'd call unconstitutional. [/ QUOTE ] his method was accusation of people to the point of political pressure on their families, employers, etc. none of those people were ever presented with evidence that wasn't rumor and speculation. many who did not even get a hearing had their constitutional right to due process violated. [ QUOTE ] At the time of the hearings there was quite a bit "wrong" with being a communist if you were living in the U.S. That's why he was able to even hold them. I don't believe he actually ever accused anyone of spying. The fact that you were a "dirty pinko commie" carried the inference that you must also be a spy. [/ QUOTE ] you will have to explain yourself. the communist party was not illegal, or outlawed like the nazi party. it had no connections to soviet union, and even if they did, there was no open military conflict with the russians, so there is no illegal activity an alleged communist could be doing other than spying for them. [ QUOTE ] The man wasn't a Mensa candidate, no, but he wasn't an idiot. He was a politician in danger of losing his seat in the Senate. The hearings were designed to get him re-elected. [/ QUOTE ] so he made up a witchhunt for his personal gain at the expense of american taxpayers and constitutional principles? |
