"i bet 15"

$15

Depends, what are the blinds? If they are 25/50 or something similar (10/20), then 15 could mean 1500. If they are only 2/5, then 15 could mean just that, 15.

Come on now, there is $9,000 in the middle of the table. Even assuming a $2/$5 game with enough money on it for this to arise, I don't think you can rule that the bet was $15 into a $9,000 pot unless the player makes it absolutely clear the bet was $15.

Fortunately these things don't come up. Have you ever seen a 2/5 game with stacks so deep that there is 9k in the center and another $15k to bet?

My point exactly. Did the player bet 1500 or 15k? One person says 1500, Randy says 15k. Which is it? See how easily this can be confused?

The dealer or opponent should ask. I would have assumed, had he had $15,000 in front of him, that he meant $15,000, since a bet of $15 into a $9,000 pot is unusual to say the least.

I was in a $15-30 limit game once and a player had just $10 in front of him, the exact amount of the small blind, when it was his small blind. He announced he's playing behind. The dealer asks how much and he says "5." The pot is raised, and when the action gets to him he takes out a $5 chip from his pocket and says, "all in." He knew we understook him to mean $500 (which no doubt it would have been had he had a big hand). The house let him play the $5.

1. Dealer should make the bettor clarify

2. Caller should wait for clarification before "calling"

3. If this is an "angle" and I am the floor, I will try to make the ruling that is least favorable to the angle shooter. When the house starts making BS unprofitable, maybe it will stop and players can go back to playing poker.
