[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I certainly raise this on the flop. [/ QUOTE ] Why? Which better hands will fold, which worse hands will call? [/ QUOTE ] Because of the draws out there and to build a nice pot right there. [/ QUOTE ] This clearly doesn't look like the way UTG would play a draw multiway. If I raise, I let a hand, that I beat and that tries to protect, get away cheaply (e.g. AJ) Donk is probably not priced in with UTGs raise, so if he wants to come along, he is already erring tremendously. If he has an OESFD, he'll probably shove anyway. As I see it (please correct me if I'm wrong), raising the flop will only lead to make UTG play his hand better. |

[ QUOTE ] I think he more than likely has over pair (UTG raise). [/ QUOTE ] What do you mean? PF he just called. [/ QUOTE ] Read that wrong. sry. I would reraise the flop then. You have to figure you are ahead, get the money in to cut his draws out. If he has JJ, I dont think he flat calls your reraise at that point, he might come back over. After the rag on the turn if your still betting put him in. More than likely looking at AJ, and possibly KJ. Bad luck if JJ or 66, but I still would want the money in in this situation. |

It looks like the UTG is pretty passive pre-flop, so I don't think it is unreasonable to put him on a set of jacks or sixes. He is afraid of a draw out so he is getting very aggressive after the flop. He might have a hand like queens, but I doubt he has aces or kings. I don't think I would lay it down in the heat of battle, but it is probably the right play.

25/2/2 means he's pretty much only raising AA and KK preflop. You could well be up against QQ or AJ here. I go broke if he has JJ/66 but then try to talk myself out of it by playing devil's advocate on 2+2.

I can't imagine not going broke here, I think calling on the flop is the way to go. You put the draws in a horrible spot on the turn when they blank anyway so... Not worth raising and folding out everything you want to play with.

Another reason to raise imo is that many cards on the turn can kill your action if he has AJ for example.
But I see your point regarding lets him play more correctly if you raise... Im not 100% sure the raise on the flop is correct. If UTG was the preflopraiser I indeed think that 3-bet is the way to go, because if he for example has KK an ace will kill lot of your action. I'm still leaning against raising though. |

I think villian has something like KJ spades, AJ spades, or even QJ spades. Its less likely he has a smaller flush draw or AJ of some other suit. I think you have to push the turn and hope another spade doesnt come. Anyone agree with my line?

Turn: ($89) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG bets $70, Hero ??? [/ QUOTE ] The fact that UTG didn't isolate preflop suggests that he didn't have JJ, don't you think? Maybe I'm being narrowminded here but I don't think there are many opponents who will limp JJ UTG, and then not reraise to narrow the field when the SB minraises. His hand range for you should also be pretty wide, and include a lot of draws. I push this turn. He certainly could have 66 -- and he may very well have had it this time -- but there are a lot more hands out there. |
