Re: K9 s - semi-steal
Seems like the camps are divided on this one. Benefits of betting:
1) Fold equity. Yes i think you have some even though villian donked the flop. 2) Your hand has some showdown value. Yes i think it does even though villian donked the flop. If you check the turn and do not improve on the river you handing the pot to villian. Benefits of checking: 1) You get check/raised and have to pay two bets to draw at your 9-15 outer. 2) If you make your flush you are likely to get the same two bets on the river that you would have got if you had been called down. I like betting the turn but can't see either betting or checking being that bad of a play. |

I think you misread the hand. If he has 8x or Jx we definitely want the free card on the turn. [/ QUOTE ] how did i misread this hand |

The only reason I have for checking behind on the turn is if we are against a LAG or a thinking player who will bet/call the river with middle pair when we check the turn. [/ QUOTE ] To me, that implied that you think we're ahead on the turn to someone that's holding a pair of 8's or J's. Did I misunderstand you? |

Re: K9 s - semi-steal
he's saying we may fold them out. i think it's rare that an unknown folds any pair now that he has bet/called the flop.

The only way I see someone folding this turn is if he was betting the flop with nothing. If he has Jx or 8x then more often than not you're just doing his value-betting for him. |

[ QUOTE ] what hands did you think he bet/called the flop with that he would fold to a turn bet? [/ QUOTE ] How bout 8x and jx? The only reason I have for checking behind on the turn is if we are against a LAG or a thinking player who will bet/call the river with middle pair when we check the turn. [/ QUOTE ] No way we're folding a pair here enough for this bet to be profitable. Especially when you combine the fact that you'll get check-raised here a decent amount of the time. |
