i used to play only online low stakes, but i've stopped that and play live now. i play 20 hours a week, and i'm not going to post my stats until i have 500 hours under my belt but by the looks of things i'm going to be pulling anywhere from 35-50k this year.

yeah that's what I've been doing for about 2 years. Now I've just happen to put myself in a situation where poker is my only income... at least until next year. I have built my bankroll this month from $400 to $1600 including a bonus $200, playing 0,25-0,50. Now I don't know how to plan my my days. Some days I really don't fel like playin and then I don't. How do u veterans handle those days

If I don't feel like playing, I don't play (as of right now). However, over the summer I had an unpaid internship and thus, poker was my only income. Generally, if I didn't feel like playing, I shortened my session, reduced the amount of tables I played and put on a movie in the background. That way, I didn't get bored too quickly and make dumb decisions. However, if you're a newer play I don't recommend that, as distractions may actually cause you to lose money. I guess my advice is, if you're a new player and you already get bored of poker, then maybe you should try to find a new source of income.

On the reverse side of this, sometimes when I'm really eager to play, I try to outplay people too much. This equates to the same thing as when I'm bored of playing; I win less money. Generally, I do the same thing in this situation as I do when I'm bored of poker: I reduce the amount of tables I play, and distract myself slightly so that I can think in a more regular state of mind. I dunno if that helps at all...sry if it's just rambling.

Except for right now (my computer died) I try to get in 1-4 hours a day, about 20 hours a week. I cash out very rarely, and only when tilting.

I play when I feel like it. My online sessions are usually short (1-2 hours) but live I generally play 4-5 hours in a home game and 6-8 hours in a casino with a food break in there.

I'm trying to force myself to play more online, but I just prefer live. I simply don't like playing online for extended periods. I don't know whether I'll be able to play 40+ hours a week this summer in AC, as I'll finally be 21. It might burn me out.

EDIT: I'm a college student, my income is poker, and if I played as much as a full time job I could support myself if I didn't burn out.

i find 2 things suck live long hours: the peaks and valleys of caffeine/alcohol whipping through your system and the long long long stretches of horrible cards like J4o that you seem to get over and over. that's the only thing i can see myself burning out over 40 hours or more a week.

My problem isn't putting in a single 40 hour week. My last Turning Stone trip was five days, and I put in almost exactly 40 hours. Actually, I barely played the last day, so it was mostly 40 hours in 4 days. I budget my time well, get a full nights sleep, and just play during the day.

The problem is that I don't know if I could do it week after week after week.

when i first started playing for a living i tried to play 30 hours a week online and i went nuts after two months. Now I just set a schedule each week based on how I feel and hand # goals. I also have learned how to play below my BR when I'm not feeling 100%.

With a wife and 2 kids I am lucky to get 3-4 hours a week online. However, when they visit the monster-in-law each summer, I manage to get 20-30 hours a week in
