ok i did push. i thought it was the right play. it probably was.

the guy who pushed had 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] for the OESD draw, and the other guy had 77. I was dead to 2 aces.

I was in a very similiar situation and posted it here:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/sh...age=0&vc=1

Consensus was that pushing is correct.

I pushed, and opponent didn't hit his draw. I won a nice pot, just like you were favored to do in this instance.

you are missing the fact that a second guy called and he had a set.

Very well-covered bad beat post.

What do you expect in this situation? In SNGs, pushing is one of your few options that actually creates FE. If you fold this every time in fear of a set, I think its very -EV.

Edit: If I played that hand, my line could have easily been something like AK for the first pusher, then a pretty straight or flush draw for the second player.

A set was what I was afraid of in my hand as well. And as Hornacek pointed out, if you don't pay off the sets on the rare occasions they show, you'll end up losing a lot more money over time.

dude this isn't a bad beat post. u need to check your head. i was trying to sway the discussion towards a fold consensus but everyone still said they'd push which must make it the correct play.

most people come on here, make their post, and it's almost obvious what happened even if they don't post results.

you need to reassess your life.

dude, there wasn't even a bad beat involved. hero got his money in as a dog and lost.

i agree that the push was correct, btw.

wow someone's a little sensitive. if i came off as harsh, sorry. i was just joking!

But I think the gist of my post was just that I think you have to get your money in there. Especially since SNGs are not very long on time and they lack the manueverability to make moves, you need to take plenty of chances where you otherwise might not in a MTT or a live game.
