The important thing is how long they're alive. I'm sure you've seen photos of those monks setting themselves on fire and such and sitting still while burning. It looks like you can stay conscious for a good long while. And it will sure seem like a while.

I do think suffocating has got to be pretty bad too, though. The eyeballs popping out of the head with exploded veins and tongues lolling out don't speak of a peaceful death.

I've been choked out before, as in till I passed out, and it wasn't really painful, and I can't imagine it getting more painful because I was already out. You don't really have time for it to hurt, you are scared, then you are out.

I think getting shot to death, by BB guns, would hurt like hell.
