Granted there's donkeys there but if you don't pick up any hands for a while you stack disinagrates quite quickly. The kids who play semi-pro there (who play my basic style) say in a 30-40hour week they usually only make a few hundred on avg. do to the horrid rake structure. I was thinking i'd have to wait until my Roll was big enough to handle at LEAST 2/5 games. I've read that 1/2 games are casino's are nearly "unbeatable" because of the rake structure.

All of my experiences at Foxwoods have been quite to the contrary. These players are so loose, and so bad, that a smart tight agressive player should net WAY more than $100-$200 in a 30-40 hour session (or combination of sessions).

Perhaps your friends have leaks. I would HIGHLY recommend playing the 1/2 NL games at Foxwoods.

I'm going this weekend and probably just completely jinxed myself, oh well.

Agreed; Foxwoods 1/2 NL is the softest NL game I've ever played (including several places in both Vegas and AC) and it isn't close.

I played the 1/2 NL every weekend for months to build up my cash bankroll. The figure in my avatar is my card protector. I've been playing 4/8 lately instead but will be switching to 5/10 Omaha8 and/or the 2/5 NL by Xmas.

What are the rakes for the higher games?

At the Seneca Niagara they take $3 from the 1/2 on the flop and another $1 when the pot reaches $40. My preflop strategy for this game is bet $17 or fold - Almost never limp.

I don't know the rake for higher games...And wow, i don't know if thats better or worse then foxwoods, for a tight player, maybe better though. Its standard to raise it up to 12$ at 1/2 at foxwoods. why 17$ though? i understand you gotta beat the pot rake, but why not 15$ then? it would till leave around 30$ in the pot right? thx for the response

[/ QUOTE ]

LOL I raise it $17 because they all fold if I raise it $22, and I'm too greedy to be satisfied with $12.

It's easy to toss in a 3 reds after they all limp in for $2 ... Hence $17.

But all in all it's kind of a wasted effort since the rake is too high. $150+ disappears from the table in tips and rake every hour.

you guys are crazy to care about the rake. foxwoods is money. seriously, back in my glory days of 1/2 i used to pull 15 hr sessions and net anywhere from 500-1.5k. if i was thereall night playing and didn't make more than 300 it was somewhat of a disaster. foxwoods 1/2 built my bankroll from peanuts, foxwoods 2/4 gave me a little more life and foxwoods 5/5 has bought me some very nice things. i actually hate foxwoods since the service sucks, the dealers suck and the atmosphere is crappy but they are still the softest games around, and not going is costing you money. go!

so at 35 hands/hr and $1000/15hr session at 1/2, you averaged 47BB/100? in a 50BB max buyin game? after the rediculous rake?

I've only played 1/2 at foxwoods about 6 times, so i admit i'm not not as educationed on at as other's seem to be here. I've seen poeple call off 80$ allin's with q-10 be4, but for some reason the couple times i've gone i've actually had pretty tough tables and had been running as bad as humanly possiable. This might account for my tenitivness about it metally. From on limited exp. there, there's usually a couple players who are pretty good, 3 or 4 "home game hero's" who are ok, and 2-4 complete mongoloids. But the last time i went i sat down at a table where almost everyone was shuffling chips (thats scary at 1/2) and playing a TAG game like me. I probably was just a random bad table, but i guess i makes me wonder if do to the poker boom, if the donk players of 5 months ago are actually coming around into "winning player" status now. Probably not enough to matter, but im not sure.

Ok, now your previous post makes a little more sense. You're a newbie, but your post is entertaining enough to respond to because I did chuckle a bit. I think you sound like a really good player, and you should easily beat stars 200nl, so I'd deposit there and test your skillz d0000de.

Agreed. I've only played 2/5 and higher at Foxwoods, but the games were ridiculously soft.

Well thx for the vode of confidence, but my sophisticated skills still need some work for that i think. Then again, I do obviously play below my skill level because of -varenice and laziness, so you could be toatally right. I usually play my "b-" game, but how much harder is it to try to stay on your "A" game for 4-5 hours a day? I think my brain might explode if i tryed to fully concentrate that long. thx for the post
