I always call. I usually lose, but I always call. Often I lose to running diamonds and stuff like that, but I'm sure that happens to no else except for me.

I did call and I called pretty quickly but I'm not convinced I should have.

I see top pair, flush draws, and random crap definitely enough to make this a call at 1/2 IMO.

straight/club draw
nut flush draw (or just overs)

This is a rare situation where even I might lay down vs a good player. He can't call here with a strong hand (set, two pair) because there are so many players left to act on such a draw heavy board. That said, this guy sounds like a donk so I probably call anyway.

I'm not sure about 1/2 6m but at 1/2 full ring I'll see players as you describe make big over bets (the type that only get called when crushed) with a top-pair type hand in an effort to "just take down the pot right now."

I would probably call against the player you describe. I could probably find a fold against a good player as I'll be looking at about 45-55% equity best case.

and going for check/raises when he hits his flush draws on the river (I've seen him do this several times over the 800ish hands I've got with him).

[/ QUOTE ]

He likes to slowplay ---> He probably smoothcalls with a set ---> Call.

With no reads and heads up, is this still a call? I've been running into these situations lately and they confused the hell out of me.

I don't like calling overbets like this with one pair. I fold this without a specific read, like you had seen him do this before with nut flush draw. If your read on this player is that he would make this play frequently with crappy hands, go for it.
