No rest is for aerobic/circuit training and lots of rest is for strength training, could be 5 minutes between sets. Like others have said its depends on what you are doing. If you are building muscle 60-90 seconds is good. You wont be doing something wrong if you rest a little more if you are just starting off. You want to keep your heart rate up while you lift. Just keep in mind your muscles will recover faster than your heart. So it might feel like you are not ready for your next set but you probably are.

60-250 seconds is good for size building.
More if you are doing strength training with high weights. |
