Scouting the game(s) you're waiting to enter aint a bad idea either.

This is the correct answer. I'm fairly well known at Canterbury for getting called into a game, then putting in an immediate table change request (sometimes away from the smokey side of the room, more often to what I think will be the softest game).

Im a pro at this, as the only casino near me that has any limit games, usually has at least a 30-40 minute wait. I usually eat, read the free cardplayer mags, and scout games.

Since the food comp just about pays for plenty on their menu, grab a bite to eat.

If it looks like it will be a while go across the parking lot a bowl a game or two, or shoot a game of billiards.

why not do a simple hi-lo count? you should at least be able to get a small edge on the house or break-even and it won't take you long to learn... unless they are using CSMs

Forgot to mention: They have an internet terminal in the bar and they have wi-fi if you have a laptop.

After I scout the tables for the fish/whales I generally go sit a low limit stud or O8 game until my seat is ready.
