It seems like this ruling followed common sense, whether or not it directly followed the rulebook.

I have seen angle shooters take down pots this way before. In the BB they cover their cards with their hands hoping for a premature muck.

Personally I think the BB should be dead for hiding his cards. I heard some casinos have a rule against hiding cards but, even so, dealers don't enforce this rule very well.
