wow clark is going to have fun with all these "astros in 6... maaaybe 7" posts.

for future reference, pinnacle has the cards at -180 and the astros at 170. that means they think the cardinal will win. a lot.

Interesting analysis. And here I figured that the team with the a better head-to-head record, overall record, team ERA, team OBP, team SLG and team defense has an edge.

Cardinals in 7.

Clark even gives the Astros 3 wins in this series. I don't see how they couldn't with Petitte who is one of the best post season pitchers of all time and probably one of the hottest pitchers in the game right now throwing two games, Oswalt who looked pretty dominant against Atlanta throwing two, and Clemens throwing one.

Those game times suck ass. I have tickets to the 3 Astros home games. And it looks like I will miss games 4 & 5 because I will have to work. I hope the game times change.

Looking at the schedule you can basically put the Astros SP rotation at
1: Petitte
2: Oswalt
3: Clemens
4: Backe
5: Petitte
6: Oswalt
7: Clemens

Good in-depth analysis. I certainly couldn't look up those stats.

Please, if you are going to offer analysis, go beyond numbers and stats.

You think LaRussa is resting on his laurels right now goin' "Ahh, no sweat, we had better OPS than those shmucks"

Get real. LaRussa is crapping himself about now. He'd give anything to be playing the Braves instead of us. I'm not saying the Cardinals can't pull this one out, because they definitely can.

But they won't. Not this year.

That assumes all else is equal. But it's not. You have good pitching vs good hitting and good pitching vs average hitting. I'll take the good pitching/good hitting team over the good pitching/average hitting team.

clark I think youre underestimating how much game the astros have in them. If they just keep the ball away from the fat part of the bat they'll be fine.

I picked it to go 7 games. I don't see how I'm underestimating them. It's you who said 20-29%.

But what you just wrote is similar to saying "all they have to do is score more runs than the Cards. If they manage that, they are in great shape."
