On the contrary, we do not need the emotion called "love," but charity. Charity is willing good for another. I do not have to "feel" this in my heart, I merely have to will it in my head.
When Christ said to love your enemies, he did not mean to buy them roses and chocolates. It is really a declaration that all must strive for the common good. It has nothing to do with being "nice" or emotional. On the contrary, we must strive to be reasonable and make sure all our emotions are subject to reason. I am glad you brought this up, because it is a huge error among Christians that needs to be rectified.

I am referring to the answer Jesus gave when asked what is the greatest Commandment. He said the greatest commandment is to love God, and after this commandment the next in line is to love your neighbor as thyself. This is indeed important. That is why I felt the need to correct you. (Or at least state what I think is the correct understanding.)
