A bet here will let you know where you stand in the hand completely. If you get raised, given the board, it still doesn't mean you're behind.

lol. I guess your girlfriend slammed the door between those two sentences, eh?

I think betting the turn is ok, but it would be nice to know if the villain was the tight type that might fold, or the passive type that will call down, or the aggressive type that would raise winners and sometimes hands that beat us. Without this information, I prefer check-call.

what's the correct play with this turn card?

[/ QUOTE ]

IMHO I don't think there is a "correct" play.
I think a lot of this depends on your read of the villan.
No reads in this one at all?

Well, i don't like not 3-betting the flop as it would give me a better idea of where I'm at. If I 3 bet and its capped, I bet turn, call a raise, and check/fold river. If he just calls my turn bet I fire at river too.. If he just calls my 3-bet I check-call down, if he checks behind I fire on a non-dangerous river. Play your hands fast, this guy aint going no where.

I think your play depends a lot on what you think your opponent would 3-bet preflop with. Is he capable of 3-betting 88 or 77 preflop? I agree that I think you are either way ahead or way behind. The two hands that make the most sense to me are an overpair or AhQh. Those seem like the two most likely hands that 3-bet preflop and raise that flop. If i'm correct, one of you is drawing to a 2-outer. If he has an overpair the Ace is just as scary to him as it is to you. I like check call, check call as you get might get him to bet with a lower overpair. Bet a non scary river if he checks behind on the turn.

he 3bet you preflop, called your capp and raised you on a rag board.

bet/call, check/call is my default here.

also why are you not 3betting the flop? That would help you play this hand out much easier on the turn.
