Read SSH "two overpair hands".

Not even close. Not even remotely close.

I was not refering to the hand themselves, but to the "passing a small edge to exploit a bigger one on the turn"-thought.

And I do think that this is "remotely" close.

A save turncard won't make our edge much bigger and we have everyone trapped right NOW.
This is not a SMALL edge on the flop.

Calling here and raising the turn has nothing to do with our edge and everything to do with value. We would prefer to get 2 BBs in from each player on the turn and 1 SB on the flop over 2SBs on the flop and 1 BB on the turn.

The relevant questions here are:
how likely is BB to bet out on the turn?
how likely is BB to 3-bet the flop?
how likely are UTG, MP1, MP2 to call raises, 3-bets, and a cap on the flop? on the turn?

If we think BB is very likely to 3-bet the flop, then it's an easy raise.

If BB is unlikely to 3-bet the flop, but is likely to bet the turn (or even UTG), then go ahead and slowplay.

So how likely is the BB to hold a hand here, what is he likely to do if he does?

They call flops, not turns. Raise it up.

For those referring to SSHE "2 Overpair hands", SSHE discusses a similar situation to this hand in the flop play hand quizzes. (pp 266,267)

In the hand quiz the button makes a set of 9's on the flop, and the flop has a 2 flush and is somewhat connected. (The pot is also multiway with 6 opponents.)

SSHE says that when you have a set in this type of example, that your edge is so large that missing the flop raise gives up too much.

That's pretty much what I wanted to say.

Maybe the 2 overpair hands didn't fit here, but I had this thought in my mind that this idea of giving up the flopraise was in this chapter, too.

People seem to have forgotten that slowplaying is a viable way to extract more value from particularly strong hands. I guess everyone's waiting for that day they flop quad aces in a .04BB pot with the aggressor on their immediate right so they can immediately post it on here and impress their internet friends. I wait for the turn, and if you like money and kicking babies as much as I do, you wait too.

Oh, I forgot to say:

Not even close. Not even remotely close.

I trap everyone on the turn with a raise if the BB bets again.

I am in the raise the flop right now group. No one is going anywhere on the flop. If things go perfect BB will 3bet and everyone will call and you can cap it. Everyone is in this hand at least till the turn card, force them to put in as many bets as possible.

Why I do not like waiting for the turn

Too much can go wrong. Worst case scenario, BB checks the turn and you bet it and a couple people fold and some call. Or BB bets and it is folded to you. IMO there is just too much that could go wrong on the turn. You have a death grip on this hand don't let anyone leave.

Raise the flop for value. 2 extra BB if everyone calls. Maybe more if EP guy 3bets you and you get to cap. Going to be hard to make that much up on the turn, b/c EP guy has to bet again and people would have to call his bet, in my experience that doesn't happen often enough.
