Re: Too much/too little action?
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not really advocating any specific action here, he is aggressive. I just think all options lead directly to suck, and it pisses me off having to call down in positions like this even though it's supposed to be the right play. [/ QUOTE ] That's a reasonable opinion, but I don't think we are too far away from 1/8 odds against an aggressive player. They do suprise you sometimes and flip over AK. Also, our calling down odds may be better than we think, because of those times he raises the turn but checks through the river. As I have stated before, when it is close between folding/calling down, I prefer calling down because A) It's better for meta-game purposes B) I sleep better. On the other hand, I could just be making excuses for playing like a calling station |

Re: Too much/too little action?
Nice hand. You probably lost, but you win often enough to call down the turn raise.

Re: sults
[ QUOTE ]
He had AK and MHIG. [/ QUOTE ] Look, once and for all this is completely irrelevant. Ok, so you misplayed the hand according to the fundamental theorem of poker, but then again so did he. But against his likely hand range I think you gave just about the right amount of action. See I think that you posted the hand because of the results and you wish you had put in a few more bets. But the thing is that's just not how you analyze a hand. This hand is simple reading (he's aggressive but not retarded) and combinatorics (the hand analysis) and is an extraordinarily common situation. Against his likely range after the turn raise you're a little less than a 50/50 favorite so it's time to slow down. |

Look, once and for all this is completely irrelevant. [/ QUOTE ] Some people like to see the results of a hand that's been discussed. I deeply apologize for offending your sensibilities by reporting them. [ QUOTE ] See I think that you posted the hand because of the results and you wish you had put in a few more bets. [/ QUOTE ] See, I didn't. I wanted to find out how others play this hand. [ QUOTE ] But the thing is that's just not how you analyze a hand. [/ QUOTE ] Thanks, Dad. Because I always analyze a hand by the results. Yep, that's me. Private Results-Oriented Joker. You figured me out. [ QUOTE ] This hand is simple reading (he's aggressive but not retarded) and combinatorics (the hand analysis) and is an extraordinarily common situation. [/ QUOTE ] And you never chose to offer any advice or alternate lines -- such as leading the flop, check-raising the turn, folding the turn, bet/folding the river, 3-betting the turn, anything... just listed some combos. |
