This forum is a cesspool for the dolts on both the right and left. Simple as that.

yet exercises in theory help us predict how things will work in reality.

if we look at the advantages and disadvantages, the goals and what is missed by communism, it helps us determine what exactly we want to get from our government.

For instance while communism doesn't produce goods as efficently as capitalism, it does shed some light on the idea that perhaps the production of the highest quantity of goods is not neccisarily the right "goal" for a government.

Yet again i'm not trying to convince someone of a specific point, but that looking at issues in a what does this mean rather then which side is right way can be more productive in a lot of ways.

I agree... the problem is everyone here thinks they're right and that they have the best approach to everything... hence the reason we all play poker

I think what he is attempting to say is that many of us already know the context of previous arguement that has taken place. Thus, our short and terse comments actually carry a great deal of weight behind them, but only in the context of previous debate.

Also, only 10% of posters are worth listening to.

this is very fair, but i still believe that the manner in which people were stating their evidence had a stong tone of authority, teacher speaking to student as opposed to equals discussing something in which both had a different set of previous knowledge
