Because you didn't pay 50 to get into it.. you paid whatever you won in the satelite.

Not a good start for me. 76th in my first double shootout. This was my last hand, I'm confident I played it well but was curious as to what you guys would do as UTG+1...

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t20 (8 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

MP2 (t1210)
CO (t1750)
Button (t1410)
SB (t1450)
BB (t1900)
UTGA (t1450)
UTG+1 (t2730)
MP1 (t1600)

"Hero" is UTG+1 with QsQh

Preflop:
UTGA raises to t75, UTG+1 calls t75, 2 folds, CO calls t75, 2 folds, BB calls t55.

Flop: (t310) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, UTGA bets t200, UTG+1 calls t200, CO raises to t1675, BB folds, UTGA calls t1175 (All-In), UTG+1...

There is nothing like getting in for cheap!

You're not getting in cheap, I hope do you see why.

I won the trip to Barcelona via the 300 fpp freeroll, so I did indeed get into that one for cheap. For the cash qualifier, I won the value of the package and was obligated to use the value won for the EPT Dublin package. I suppose if I had won the money in a regular MTT and then paid my way I wouldn't consider it to be getting in cheap. But I still got in to both for less than $20 cash and about 20 hours work. Cheap enough for me!

It's the same to win a satellite for a 10k seat, or to win a MTT where 1st price is 10k and decide to use the 10k to sign up for the 10k event.
Even the "frerolls" are not "free", all the FPP are generated by rake you paid, but of course if you won a satellite that had an overlay, then you can say your seat was cheap.

This is just because you don't understand the nature of poker winnings. I'm just trying to clarify a misconception prevalent about satellite winnings. Of course anytime I won a satellite package I'm as happy as you are now.

Yeah, but by winning a satellite it is a helluva lot easier to explain to the wife why you're entering a $5k tournament in Europe!

i'm def going to quali for the PPM and the EPT finals in march though

Monte Carlo = Mar 8-11
PPM Cruise = Mar 12-19

jet-lag anyone??

Seriously....I would think it would be VERY difficult to do both of these.

do you really want to play in monte Carlo almost HOPING that you get eliminated on the first day so that you can change your flight and make it back in time for the cruise-departure?

Also - my plan to qualify for the PCA: Prey.

my QQ got busted by KK in the first of the double-shootouts.....seems we had quite the contingent of 2+2'ers bogging down the field...but I agree that all the $5-turbo qualifiers for it helped out.

ty.. first step doesn't seem too hard.. although I loathe turbos cuz I don't play a lot of hands.. but a lot of people make it, 1/5 of the field it looks like
